Setup for WildCat Winserver (32-bit)

Step 1: You must run DoorMUD through a batch file.  Copy WCMUD.BAT from your DoorMUD directory to whatever directory you normally put door batch files, and edit it as directed in the batch file's comments.

Step 2:Configure your BBS to run DoorMUD as follows:

Step 3: (IMPORTANT) This version of DoorMUD directly interfaces with Winserver's DOOR32.DLL file. It is vital that the door is able to find this file.  Please determine which of your directories contains this file (probably your \wc5 directory), and then add this directory to your system's path if it isn't already there:

  • Windows 95/98/ME: You can add a directory to your system path by modifying AUTOEXEC.BAT.  You will have to reboot your computer after changing this file, in order for the path change to take effect.

  • Windows NT/2K/XP: Use the Control Panel to modify your system path. Please see Control Panel >> System >> Advanced >>  Environmental Variables >> System Variables >> Path.

An alternative option (if you don't know how to edit your path) is to simply place a copy of the DOOR32.DLL file in DoorMUD's directory. This should work fine, but is not recommended for upgrade reasons, since DOOR32.DLL may change in future versions of Winserver.

Step 4: To finish the installation, you must run the door in local mode by executing "dmud32d.exe -l". The game will automatically finish its installation the first time you run it in local mode.

*** Getting DLL errors or strange lockups? ***
DoorMUD v0.99 has fixed several known 32bit setup problems that appeared in previous versions of the door.  If you're encountering difficulties, please send the author an e-mail describing the problem.
